At Pathways On Pleasure Valley, we are not a horse dealer. However, from time to time, horses come through our program or are brought to us, and in certain cases, we assist in finding them suitable new homes.
These situations typically arise when a horse is not the right fit for our operation, or when a horse may no longer be suitable for the demands of a commercial trail riding environment.
Our focus is not on selling horses as a business, but on helping place them responsibly when the opportunity arises.
Why These Horses Become Available
The horses we assist in rehoming are often:
- Not ideally suited for a busy public trail program
- Better matched to a quieter, more individualized setting
- Sound for riding, but not for the frequency or intensity required in our operation
- Horses that would benefit from a consistent rider or a different type of program
- Horses that require lighter work or specific management
- Horses that are best suited as companions only (non-riding homes)
Many of these horses are still capable, enjoyable trail horses for the right rider, while others may be better suited to a non-riding role.
Suitability
Horses available through us may fall into one of the following categories:
Trail & Riding Horses
- Best suited for intermediate riders
- Suitable for pleasure riding and trail use
- May prefer consistency and a quieter environment
Companion Horses
- Not suitable for riding
- Ideal as pasture companions
- Well-suited for homes looking to support a horse in a lower-demand role
- May require maintenance, lighter handling, or retirement-style care
Each horse will be clearly described so expectations are aligned.
Placement & Approval Process
We take the placement of our horses seriously. All interested parties will be required to go through an approval process to ensure a suitable match.
This process may include:
- A discussion or interview to understand your experience and intentions
- Review of your facility or boarding arrangement
- In some cases, a visit to the prospective home environment
Our goal is to ensure that each horse is placed into a safe, appropriate, and well-matched setting where it can thrive.
Transparency & Responsibility
We know these horses through hands-on experience in our program. We aim to represent each horse honestly, including:
- Temperament
- Riding experience (if applicable)
- Soundness and limitations
- Ideal type of home
Our priority is to ensure that each horse is placed in a situation where it can succeed.

Important Considerations
- These horses are not school horses and many are not suitable for beginners
- Some horses are strictly companion-only and not for riding
- Certain horses may have limitations that make them unsuitable for heavy or frequent use
- Proper matching between horse and rider/home is essential
- We reserve the right to decline any placement that is not in the best interest of the horse
Inquiry Process
If you are interested in one of the horses available, please reach out with the following:
- Your riding experience (if applicable)
- Intended use (riding or companion)
- Description of your facility or boarding situation
- Who the horse is for
- Any relevant background about the home you can provide
This helps us ensure a responsible and appropriate match.
